Hair loss patterns Androgenetic alopecia and female pattern hair loss, telogen effluvium, alopecia areata, postpartum hair loss, menopause-related changes, traction alopecia, breakage, scarring hair loss, medication-related changes, and nutrition-related hair concerns.

The goal is to recognize patterns, understand what may be contributing, and know what should happen next.

Scalp conditions Dry scalp, oily scalp, seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, inflammation, follicular irritation, buildup, sensitive scalp, scalp barrier disruption, and signs that require medical referral.

You will also learn when a scalp treatment is appropriate and when stopping and referring is the right call.

Hormones, nutrition, and whole body health Hair responds to what is happening in the body. We cover perimenopause and menopause, thyroid changes, PCOS, stress and the hair cycle, iron and ferritin, Vitamin D, B vitamins, zinc, gut health, inflammation, medications, weight loss changes, and lifestyle factors.

The science is taught in language you can actually use with clients.

Hair and scalp evaluation Client history, hair loss timeline, shedding history, health and lifestyle questions, medications, hormonal changes, nutrition, scalp symptoms, family history, pattern and density changes, photography and documentation, dermascope observations, and knowing what to ask next.

You learn to slow down and understand the story before reaching for a product.

​

Scope and referral Trichology education does not mean pretending to be a dermatologist. You will learn how to recognize concerning changes, document what you see, communicate clearly with clients, and work alongside dermatologists, physicians, and other providers. Knowing when to refer does not make you less valuable. It makes you a better professional.

Treatment planning Once you understand what the client is dealing with, the next question is what to actually do. We teach you how to build plans that may include scalp care treatments, peptides, growth factors, exosome-based therapies, low level light therapy, topical support, product recommendations, nutrition, supplements, gut health support, lifestyle changes, in clinic treatment plans, and referral to medical providers.

The goal is to understand what each client needs and build a plan that makes sense for them.

Business and marketing Knowing the science is only part of building a successful practice. WHO TEACHES TRICHOEDU

TrichoEDU was founded by Tabitha Fredrichs, a board certified trichologist, hair loss educator, naturopath practitioner, and longtime hairstylist.

​

After decades behind the chair, Tabitha kept seeing the same thing. Clients were asking increasingly complex questions about shedding, thinning, scalp conditions, hormones, and health. Hairstylists noticed. They cared. They wanted to help. But nobody had taught them what to say or do next.

TrichoEDU was created to bridge that gap.

The goal is not to take hairstylists out of the beauty industry. It is to elevate what they are capable of within it.

COMMON QUESTIONS

• Is the program online? Yes. TrichoEDU is designed for working professionals. Learn at your own pace and return to lessons as you apply what you learn with real clients. Monthly live classes and in person learning opportunities are also available.

• Do I need to be a hairstylist? No. TrichoEDU serves professionals across hair, scalp, beauty, and wellness. But hairstylists have something incredibly valuable: access. You are already seeing your clients' hair and scalp regularly. Trichology education helps you understand what you are seeing and respond with confidence.

• Can hairstylists diagnose hair loss? No. Trichology education does not replace medical diagnosis. Your role is to recognize, document, educate, support within your scope, and refer when necessary. That distinction is built into everything we teach.

• Do I have to leave hairdressing? Absolutely not. Many professionals add trichology alongside the work they already love. For some it becomes an additional specialty. For others it eventually becomes the majority of their business. There is no single right path.

• Is trichology worth it for hairstylists?
